OUR MISSION
Sepo Farm is providing the start-up capital and early organization and leadership to begin a sustainable small-scale agricultural business community for residents of the small community of Kaoma, Zambia.
The project's success will be marked by the eventual self-sufficiency of these businesses and the complete transfer of leadership to residents.
We are going to provide hard-working local residents the opportunity to begin their own locally-owned, locally-operated and locally-supported businesses.
We are going to provide them with resources they need to develop that business, provide for their family, and strengthen their community.
And this is how we'll do it:
We have purchased a plot of land (9,500 square meters) just on the outter edge of Kaoma, Zambia. The lot is located next to an existing community of Habitat for Humanity homes and on the main road from Lusaka, the national capital, to Kaoma; making it an ideal location for businesses. The plot was purchased using donated funds and is relying very heavily on existing local leadership to develop it into an agricultural business community.
Currently our team is working with locals in Kaoma to develop the Infrastructure to operate a Poulty Business, Block-making Business, Guest Houses, and a business focused on planting and harvesting various crops, to be sold at the local markets as well as directly from an onsite market. These businesses will generate jobs for locals and all proceeds from sales will generate income to pay them for their labor as well as a reinvestment into the farms projects to ensure the long term sustainability of Sepo Farm.
At Sepo Farm we also want to give back to the community in a sustainable way that supports the health of local children. We have planted a small orchard of fruit trees with the goal of harvesting and delivering fresh fruit to local schools to ensure every child has something to eat to start their days of learning. In a community where children often survive on one basic meal a day, a mango, or a banana can go a long way in helping create energy for children to stay alert and focused in school.
